The Challenge: Planning Beyond Move-In Day
When Glendale Police Department began building its new evidence facility—just under 20,000 square feet—the team was not focused only on move-in day. They were planning for years of secure, organized, high-volume use.
As Alana Gambill from Glendale Police Department explained, the team needed “the latest for storage solutions, something that’s going to last for decades.”
That long-term view shaped the project from the beginning. The facility included multiple rooms with different storage requirements, from intake areas to secure rooms to the main warehouse. Each space needed to work on its own while supporting the full flow of evidence through the facility.
The department had worked with Interior Solutions before on smaller projects, which gave Alana confidence going into a larger, more complex build. She said the team had completed “small projects” with Interior Solutions in the past, but this facility required a more detailed planning process with more spaces, more product types, and more decisions that needed to work together.
The Collaboration: Responsive, Detailed, and Precise
The goal was clear from the beginning. Interior Solutions helped make the path to that goal more organized, responsive, and precise.
For Alana, one part of the experience stood out right away: accessibility. Richard was “very prompt in his responses,” she said, which helped keep decisions moving and reduced uncertainty throughout the planning process.
That responsiveness was paired with careful measurement and coordination. Alana described Richard as “meticulous in making sure measurements were right,” adding that “we did it several times” to ensure each solution would fit as intended.
In a facility like this, those details matter. A small miss in measurement can affect how a system performs, how easily a team can access stored items, or whether equipment fits properly once the space is complete. By checking measurements more than once, the team reduced the risk of avoidable surprises during installation.
Interior Solutions also helped coordinate beyond the core storage products. Alana noted that Interior Solutions’ partnerships “in the state” were advantageous, and that even when specialized products came from outside the state—or outside the country—Richard had “good partnerships” to support the project.
The Solution: Storage Matched to Real Daily Use
The final storage plan combined several types of systems to support the department’s workflow.
Evidence lockers helped support intake and transfer needs. High-density mobile storage helped maximize capacity in key areas. Rolling cabinets provided flexible storage for rooms with specialized requirements. Shelving in the main warehouse gave the team durable support for long-term organization.
This mix mattered because each space had a different purpose. Evidence facilities need more than shelves. They need a thoughtful plan that considers how items enter the space, how they are categorized, how often they are accessed, and how storage needs may grow over time.
For Glendale Police Department, the right solution was not a single product. It was a coordinated system designed around how the team works.
The Results: A Facility the Team Can Use with Confidence
Once the facility was operational, the value of the planning showed up where it matters most: in daily use.
“We are utilizing our storage,” Alana said.
That may sound simple, but it is one of the strongest signs of a successful storage project. The systems were not just installed. They were adopted by the team and put to work.
In secure, high-demand rooms, the rolling cabinets became an immediate win. “Our rolling cabinets are working great, especially in the drug room,” Alana shared. She noted that the cabinets included “a lot of different sizes—different storage capacities,” which helped the department match storage to the items being stored.
She also pointed to specialized rolling cabinets designed around rifle storage needs, noting that “nobody else has them.” The solution stood out because it addressed a specific requirement she had not seen handled elsewhere.
In the main warehouse, the strength of the shelving made an impression. Alana called out “the sturdiness and reliability of the shelving” as a standout benefit.
For Glendale Police Department, the completed facility gave the team storage they could use, trust, and adapt to the realities of their work.
The Learnings: Plan Early and Stay Flexible
A project of this size comes with learning moments. For Alana, the process brought more insight than she expected.
“I learned a lot. I learned way more than I would ever think I needed to know,” she said.
But the bigger takeaway was not only technical. It was relational.
Alana appreciated the installers, the customer service team, and the willingness to modify or adjust things when needed. Even after the facility was complete, continued support mattered.
“It’s always nice to know a phone call away and they’re going to come and fix something,” she said.
When asked what she would tell another organization starting a similar project, her guidance was clear: “Start early,” and “keep it open for adjustments.”
She also encouraged teams to come prepared but stay open. “Know what you want, and let them give you options,” she said.
Her final reminder was simple: “Plan, plan, and plan again.”
A Facility Designed for the Work Ahead
The Glendale Police Department evidence facility is a strong example of what happens when planning, product knowledge, and responsive support come together.
The department needed storage that could serve its team for decades. Interior Solutions helped provide a plan that addressed access, organization, durability, and daily use across multiple spaces in the new facility.
From evidence lockers to high-density systems, rolling cabinets, specialized rifle storage, and sturdy warehouse shelving, each piece had a role to play. Together, they created a facility that supports the real work of the department.
Interior Solutions appreciates Alana and the Glendale Police Department team for trusting us as a partner in this important project.
